Produced by Sun Pictures, Anirudh Ravichander composed the music. Petta released across the globe today and here is the complete review of Petta:
Story:
Petta showcases Rajinikanth in dual shades as Kaali and Petta Veera. While Kaali is a hostel warden, Petta Veera is a don. The film explains the situations that make Petta Veera change as Kaali and about his rivalry with Simhachalam (Nawazuddin Siddhiqui) forms the major story of Petta. Watch the film to know about what happens next.
Positives:
Rajinikanth and his characterization
Two stylish songs
Good First Half
Negatives:
Stale Second half
No strong plot
Tamil overdose
Poor climax
Performances:
Superstar Rajinikanth delivers out a decent set of performance in dual shades as Kaali and Petta Veera. He looks energetic throughout the film and is the major highlight of the film. Bobby Simha and Vijay Sethupathy lives up the expectations in their assignments. Nawazuddin Siddhiqui stuns in a crucial role and his performance is a teat for masses. All the other actors have been good in their roles.
Petta lacks an interesting and strong plot. The film stands completely on Rajinikanth’s characterization and his mannerisms. The screenplay and diolagues should have been better. The music and the background score fails to make impact across the film. The cinematography work is good and elevates the film well. The production values have been grand and Karthik Subbaraj delivers a film that impresses to Rajinikanth’s fans strictly.
Verdict:
Petta is one more disappointment from Rajinikanth and the film falls flat because of the poor script and pale narration.
