The temporary Secretariat complex has been coming up at Velagapudi village in lieu of Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh is well known. But there seems to be some issue with the planning.
In more ways than thought earlier, there are reports that it is becoming a white elephant for the TDP led government. The budget allocated and the ground reality expectations are quite different.
The original construction cost was pegged to be Rs 600 crore which was hiked by another 250 crore. After accessories like furniture, electric works etc, the total costs may reach Rs 1,000 crore. Final tally may even touch 1000 crores more!
