Superstar Rajinikanth who is occupied with a bunch of disasters pinned many hopes on 2.0, a sci fi thriller that is the sequel for Robo and is directed by Shankar. The film released between huge expectations and ended up as a below average grosser in Telugu. The theatrical rights of AP and Telangana have been valued at Rs 72 crores and the movie raked Rs 52.30 crores in its final run.

The buyers are said to be left in hefty losses and 2.0 performed well in multiplexes and in cities. The 3D affects along with the VFX work received decent response from the audience.
