Nandamuri Balakrishna took things prestigiously for the biopic of his father. Unfortunately, the first installment of the film NTR – Kathanayakudu that released during Sankranthi ended up as a dud. The second installment NTR – Mahanayakudu released in February and the film too failed to register some decent numbers on board. The film even could not get decent openings over the weekend.

NTR – Mahanayakudu was offered for free for all the buyers who lost big amounts through NTR – Kathanayakudu. The film raked a theatrical share of Rs 3.81 crores in its final run all over which is poor. The movie unit is left in a state of shock. Krish is the director and Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Rana Daggubati, Nandamuri Kalyanram played other pivotal roles.
