Ilayathalapathy Vijay has been struggling to make an impact in Telugu cinema. The young actor’s recent outing Mersal has been declared as the biggest blockbuster in his career. Atlee is the director of the film and Vijay played three different roles in the film. Samantha, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen essayed the female leads in the movie which released in Telugu as Adhirindi. The movie had a fantastic weekend and dominated all the releases.
Adhirindi opened to packed houses thanks to the controversies the film gained. Adhirindi raked over Rs 3 crores in its opening weekend across the Telugu states. Other releases Detective, C/O Surya and Okkadu Migiladu failed to make much impact. Sri Thenandal Films produced Adhirindi and Sharat Marar released the Telugu version of the film.
